Accounts Payable Manager (Sports Management/Finance)Responsible for managing six or more professionals who perform similar or related tasks. Work is focused on short-term planning, operational effectiveness, and results. Generally makes decisions on work impacting own business unit and advises higher-level management on work issues of own unit and the impact on broader issues. May also be responsible for applying advanced concepts, theories, principles, and practices.
Functional Operations and Reporting
Leads team in the preparation of timely and insightful analysis of pertinent information to ensure integrity of financial information. Ensures functional excellence in the fulfillment of core accountabilities. Policy-related responsibilities primarily surround the execution of policy. Administers timely and insightful analysis of financial balances and results to determine accuracy and compliance with GAAP and our company's Accounting Policy. Reviews work performed by team, prepares materials for review by higher levels. Administers the account reconciliation process. Advises on financial implications of business decisions. Participates in system developments, including championing testing efforts. Likely to be directly involved in managing or executing several special projects each year. ú Ensure accurate invoice posting as it relates to invoice terms, extensions and GL account codification ú Maximize cash availability by ensuring correct terms are used in all transactions ú Monitor weekly payment process to ensure all banking and other relevant information is correct ú Perform check & wire payment runs and analyze AP aging reports ú Manage month end accrual process, which includes accurate and time required journal entries and completion of month end reconciliations on a timely basis ú Oversee T&E process to ensure employees are paid timely and consistent application of the corporate travel policy ú Coordinate with our company's Compliance on necessary changes to documented process for accounts payable ú Manages vendor relations and relations with internal customers with highest degree of good customer service
Functional Management (span of control)
Develops action plans and processes, in coordination with management team, for integrating activities and optimizing department resources to meet major goals and objectives. Participates in policy development. Participates in functional discussions and initiatives across departments. Develops internal and/or external partnerships that leverage resources and improve business unit responsiveness.
People Management
Manages employees and sets individual goals. Coache staff, supports development, and collaborates on hiring decisions, disciplinary actions, performance management, and recognition and rewards. Resolves employee relations issues and supports diversity. Builds team support.
Internal Controls and Policies & Procedures
Utilizes advanced knowledge of accounting policies and procedures and key internal controls concepts. Has familiarity with corporate policies and procedures. Ensures such policies and procedures and controls are in place and are working effectively. Resolves non-compliance and recommends improvements. Also ensures policies and concepts are well understood throughout team.
Qualifications
ú Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum 6 years extensive experience in accounting, as well as a minimum of 3 years of proven people management experience. ú Extensive knowledge of accounting, GAAP, and statutory requirements. ú Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations. Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives. ú ú Strong information seeking skills and drive to make things happen. Ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns, share ideas, and develops effective responses or elevate to higher management. Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group. Ability to network and utilize internal and external resources. Ability to exercise high degree of professionalism. ú Understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as work planning, project management, delegating, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating. Demonstrated leadership in motivating employees and building team spirit and consensus.Ability to identify effective solutions, collaborate with peer managers, and motivate staff toward results.
