Description
Administrative Assistant Supporting our Admissions Department
In this role, provide a variety of administrative services to the Admissions Department for General, Shock Trauma and Emergency Services. The role primarily supports the Director and several Managers as needed for reports, filing, statistics, presentation preparation, and other general duties.
Qualifications: 1. High school diploma is required; an Associates degree is preferred.
2. A minimum of three years general administrative experience in a business, professional office or health care environment is required.
3. Highly proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs. Access experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 60 WPM is required (Testing is done at time of interview)
4. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
5. Highly proficient filing, organizing and proper English usage skills are required.
6. Ability to effectively operate a multi-line telephone console and use of professional telephone etiquette is required.
7. Ability to use resourcefulness in researching various documents, department information screens or other resources to problem-solve in handling telephone and in-person inquires.
8. Ability to apply UMMS guest relations skills of listening and courtesy, in providing information to and handling inquires from patients, visitors, staff or other relevant parties.
9. Highly effective verbal communication skills including courtesy, resourcefulness and efficiency in answering questions, giving directions, locating staff and explaining hospital/departmental policies and procedures are necessary.
