Administrative Clerk
The Worker Rights Consortium (WRC) is seeking to hire an Office Manager in its Washington, DC office. The WRC is a non-profit research and advocacy organization dedicated to ending sweatshop conditions and protecting the rights of workers in factories around the world that produce goods for American consumers. The WRC is based in Washington, DC and has fourteen staff, located in the US and in eight other countries. The Office Manager is responsible for the daily administrative operations of the WRC and is vital to keeping the organization functioning smoothly and efficiently. The person in this position reports to the WRCs Executive Director and works closely with all members of the staff. Responsibilities The Office Manager has the following areas of responsibility: Handling relations with vendors, managing supplies and other office management tasks Formatting, proofing and disseminating a range of electronic and printed documents Planning, coordinating and handling preparation for board meetings and other events Light reception and phone answering duties Providing general administrative support to the Executive Director and other Washington, DC staff; assisting members of the WRCs overseas field staff with expense reimbursements and similar issues Assisting the WRCs outside accountants with financial record-keeping and related tasks Managing organizational databases Maintaining the WRC website and posting content as requested; assisting staff with computer issues; interfacing with outside tech support firm Recruiting, selecting and supervising administrative and research interns Maintaining all administrative and personnel records and files Light intern research duties Maintaining and improving administrative systems and procedures Participating in short and long-term organizational planning Additional Qualifications: Required: Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) At least three years professional experience in office administration Superior organizational skills and attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Office Experience proofing and formatting electronic and printed documents for publication Experience planning meetings and events General computer savvy Strong verbal and written communications skills Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a hectic work environment Candidates must be conscientious, reliable and extremely well-organized. Desired: Bookkeeping experience HTML skills Experience using Microsoft Access and/or Dreamweaver Experience with electronic mass mailing software Experience supervising other administrative staff and/or interns Fluency in Spanish Experience trouble-shooting office computer networks Experience at a labor rights, human rights or other progressive organization How to Apply: Equal Opportunity The WRC is an equal opportunity employer.
