The Administrative Support Specialist position known at Merck's Durham facility as the IPT/COE (integrated process team/center of expertise) Support Specialist performs advanced administrative support tasks for the Plant Manager, Durham. Conducts research, analyzes and reviews data, and recommends action from various reports and/or statistics. Trouble-shoots and resolves problematic systems and processes. Develops reports, tables, graphs, presentations and correspondence. Applies knowledge and acts as a business resource on Merck administrative processes and guidelines.
Primary activities included but are not limited to:
* Performs advanced administrative tasks for plant manager and other members of the management team, including coordination of communication and assignments. * Position requires the coordination and performance of multiple, complex projects while understanding the principles as related to work assignments. Work priorities and activities are performed independently with minimal or no supervision. * Produces/completes various assignments requiring advanced analytical ability, independent judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills. * Communication skills must be at a level to effectively interact with internal/external customers to manage projects, assignments, and workflow. * Coordinates special projects within the area/division. Provides functional guidance to individuals and work groups at the Durham site. * General administrative duties constitute approximately 30% of job responsibilities that include meeting/calendar management and travel arrangements. * Assist with the coordination of community relations.
Qualifications
Education
* High School Diploma or equivalent is required. * Associate degree preferred.
Requirements
* Minimum of 5 years administrative experience. * Advanced computer skills including troubleshooting of software problems and operation of other peripheral devices. * Ability to perform complex administrative functions. * Professional communication skills. * Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. * Advanced planning & follow-up skills.
