Coder III - HIM: INPATIENT CODING

Job Summary:

REMOTE in your home or Office

-Codes inpatient records for multiple facilities
-Codes an average of 5 inpatient records per hour with 95% accuracy
-Initiates physician queries in compliance with Company and HSC policy where appropriate
-Reviews all official data quality standards, coding guidelines, Company policies and procedures, and clinical/medical resources to assure coding knowledge and skills remain current
-Meets all educational requirements as stated in current Company and HSC policy practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct"philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement"
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Coding Technical skills- regulatory coding (ICD-9-CMand MS-DRGs) and associated reimbursement knowledge
- Communication - communicates clearly and concisely
- Customer orientation - establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations
- Analytical skills -effective evaluation, synthesis and use of information gathered
- Initiative -independently takes prompt proactive steps toward problem resolution

- Policies & Procedures - articulates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems

Requirements:

Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred. Equivalent work experience equally considered.
Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital inpatient coding required, 3 years strongly preferred.
