Building Quality Excellence
T O G E T H E R

The Data Quality Manager leads the organization in achieving its clinical vision of measurably safe and superior care. This individual oversees systemwide processes for data collection, analysis, and reporting, prepares quality reports for the Board of Directors, assesses subsidiary hospital initiative performance, and serves as the System Care Science and MMCIP liaison. This individual also participates in leading systemwide initiatives.


Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

1. System Data Management

A. Responsible for understanding scope of quality data systemwide and coordinating data collection methods and approaches.


B. Performs detailed analyses of clinical trends for specific service lines.


C. Identifies areas of opportunity to improve quality and safety organization-wide.


D. Works with subsidiary quality leadership to develop plans of correction.


E. Prepares management reports for Executive Council, Quality Executive Forum, and Chief Medical Officer Council.


F. Attends and participate in various educational programs and professional activities to keep abreast of new developments in the field and improve expertise.

2. Quality Reporting
A. Completes annual quality and safety report for the Board of Directors.

B. Maintains the integrity of the Board of Directors Quarterly Report Card.

a. Revisits report card metrics annually. Gains quality leadership buy-in on new and ongoing metrics.

b. Identifies appropriate national and state databases for comparison and gains buy-in from quality leadership.

C. Reports System performance to state and national groups, as required.

D. Participates in study designs that allow System participation in state/federal or professional organization studies.

E. Applies for applicable quality and safety awards to achieve recognition for System quality program.

3. Monitor Subsidiary Initiatives
A. Establish and build ongoing relationships with subsidiary hospital quality leadership.

B. Develops reports to monitor the success of subsidiary quality and safety initiatives as determined
C. Assists subsidiary hospitals in developing plans of action, as required.

4. Liaison Role
A. Serves as central contact between System Quality and MMCIP.

B. Works collaboratively with the MMCIP to create standard reports for subsidiary hospitals and system.

C. Participates in MMCIP initiatives requiring Quality leadership input (e.g., online error reporting, adverse event database)
D. Serves as central contact between System Quality and Care Science.

5. System-wide Initiatives
A. Communicates the System quality vision effectively.

B. Works to lead clinical integration activities, such as pathway development.

C. Participates on teams focused on annual systemwide initiatives, as designated
6. Perform related duties as required.


Qualifications

1. Some research background with understanding of statistical testing required. Knowledge of computer software applications required. The individual must have strong organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects at once.

2. An advance degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Human Resources, Nursing, Psychology, or related area of study is required.

3. Strong clinical and operational knowledge. Knowledge of the organizational complexities of a major medical school, teaching hospitals and community hospitals ideal.

4. Detailed knowledge of quality and safety data analysis methods, tools, and approaches.

5. Knowledge of quality analysis software and external benchmarking.

6. At least five years experience in quality and safety data analysis.
