Encoder Operator
Overview: The primary function of the Encoder Operator is to utilize the equipment provided by the item processing department to the best of his/her ability to perform the daily encoding/proof functions. In addition, the Encoder Operator is expected to perform other related check processing duties on a daily basis as required. Responsibilities:
Encodes amounts and balances incoming transactions from various sources, including teller transactions from various branches, loan operations, exceptions processing, finance, mortgage and trust.
Researches out-of-balance conditions, identifies the reason for out-of-balance situations and reports findings to Corrections Clerk for further action.
Prepares and encodes various control documents, such as batch headers, in order to batch proof work.
Encodes non-amount fields on documents from various sources as necessary.
Performs maintenance of encoding and re-qualification equipment, which consists of periodic vacuuming of machine, changing ribbon to ensure clear endorsement and adding tape; performs related duties as assigned by the department lead, supervisor or manager.
Qualifications: This skill level is normally acquired through the completion of 3 to 6 months of previous training or 175 hours of working experience with 10-key application.
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
