Description
The Staff Accountant I has entry-level professional accounting responsibilities, including, preparing financial statements, journal entries, various analytical projects, reconciliation of financial data, and preparation of financial reports for the General Ledger.
1. Assists senior-level accounting personnel in preparing monthly financial statements on an accrual and cash basis using accounting principles and other guidelines as applied to the proper reporting of financial information.
2. Assists in the reconciliation of all subsidiary data to be interfaced into the General Ledger in accordance with departmental standards and generally accepted accounting practices.
3. Assists in the organization and preparation of various routine analytical projects and reports, such as, miscellaneous operating revenue month-to-date/year-to-date, back-end reporting providing various types of financial data, and similar reports for management analysis.
4. Provides assistance to and communicates with various Medical System departments regarding monthly accounting reports and other accounting-related documents/information and to explain accounting department policies and procedures.
Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field is required. Minimum of six years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for a degree.
2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting is required. General knowledge of financial analysis is required.
