Medical Records Technician - File Clerk

  • Plan, design and coordinate a record information system appropriate for the evaluation of patient care utilization services.
  • Implementation of systems approach in order to streamline workflow resulting in more effective record information control.
  • Coordinate and integrate into the patient information system all records, indexes and reports that relate to the professional care of the patient and administrative management.
  • Assist the medical staff in the use of the selected terminology and classification systems so that the information can be retrieved in an expedient fashion.
  • Acts as contact for all legal matters with insurance companies and attorneys.
  • Process change of status and adjust records accordingly.
  • Archive discharged records and maintains archive area.
  • Copy required documentation for CHHA, other offices, etc. Forward to appropriate person for mailing.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma is required.
  • At least one year related experience is required.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology / technology is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear.
  • Talking and hearing are regular requirements.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are regular requirements.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to write, use a computer and manipulate documents.
