Job Description
Responsible for coordinating and managing selected key aspects of the occupational health program for BioLife, including but not limited to case management, worker's compensation, ergonomics and other program-wide issues. This position reports to the Manager of EHS and supports all responsibilities under that position. Coordinates work injury cases and coordination of work injury initiatives. Acts as a key occupational health representative to interface with Corporate Risk Management and related insurance vendors.
1. Facilitates the occupational health program related to work injury management, establishes goals for reduction of work-related injuries and illnesses, and measures outcomes.
2. Consults with facilities on the assessment and management of work injury cases and key occupational health program issues.
3. Provides training to medical and non-medical professionals related to work injury management, ergonomics, pre-placement physicals and other occupational health and safety program issues to assure program effectiveness.
4. Coordinates with other health care professionals, human resources, department managers, and vendors related to work injury to facilitate a company-wide timely return to work programs and appropriate utilization of benefits.
5. Works effectively with other environmental health and safety professionals to pursue occupational health program initiatives. Recognizes environmental and physical stressors in the workplace that may cause negative health impacts on employees, and actively participates in strategies to reduce those risks. Contributes to facility and corporate-wide team efforts to address Occupational Health issues.
6. Actively participates in the EHS audit program.
7. Periodically evaluates the effectiveness of facility personnel in managing work related injuries and return to work accommodation, and takes measures to achieve continual improvement.
8. Identifies mechanisms to capture cost savings related to effective work injury management and prevention strategies, and routinely reports cost-related information to management.
9. Tracks and communicates applicable worker's compensation and other health related aspects.
Job Requirements
Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills with individuals and groups. Strategic planning and organizational skills. Management and administrative skills. Able to work effectively with people at all levels, both inside and outside of Baxter. Advanced training and presentation skills.
Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse
Bachelors degree in nursing, public health or
Certification in occupational health preferred
Certification in case management preferred
Experience in applied ergonomics and other safety-related issues
Minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the applied areas, including 5 years working in a business or manufacturing setting OR .
