PAS: Admitting Specialist (12023) Job
Description

Admitting Specialists and Emergency Services Representatives are hired for our Emergency Department, Shock Trauma Department or our General Admissions Department (scheduled services). Being a 24/7 Medical Center, we offer a variety of shifts.


Qualifications:
(1) High School diploma or GED is required.

(2) Three (3) years of demonstrated excellent customer service.

(3) Hospital or health care physician office experience preferred.

(4) Flexible schedule (we hire for specific shifts; however need employees to work other shifts as needed for coverage and continued excellent customer service.


Responsibilities:
(1) Greets patients, visitors, hospital personnel, and all others; always demonstrating excellent customer service skills.


(2) Admitting Specialists are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of patient information in multiple software systems.


(3) Obtains demographic and financial data from patient and accurately inputs data into the Star System. Obtains signatures on all required registration forms and releases.


(4) Processes patient discharges and transfers accurately after obtaining this information from nursing units via Protouch.


(5) Verifies patients' insurance information and obtains necessary authorizations and/or approvals during the registration process. Explains to patient and/or family members their financial responsibilities.


(6) Investigates and responds to patients' inquiries and complaints regarding insurance coverage, payment plans and other financial issues.


(7) Maintains contact with the patients, their insurance carriers, clinical reimbursement, Utilization review and Social Work departments as necessary to ensure that all the necessary information has been obtained for reimbursement, and that pre-admission and pre-certification requirements are followed.


(8) Audits paperwork and files on each admission to ensure accuracy and completion of information obtained and paperwork completed.
