ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Plans and orders critical raw materials using a customized MRP system in accordance with supplier selections and instructions
Develop solutions that leverage the Company’s volume, systems, and partnerships while providing consistently high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner
Able to communicate with vendors and technical resources
Must be able to work in a schedule-driven environment. Timing is a critical function.
Must be able to manage budgets and avoid delay costs including shipping
Develop relationships with vendors and/or contractors.
Must be able to control costs, manage change, and review schedules
Specifications and inquiry preparation, purchasing, expediting, bid analysis, and invoice auditing for raw materials.
Use Standard purchasing forms, including bid requests, material requisitions, purchase orders, logs, reports, trending.
Oversee raw material replenishment system (Kanban) that is administered on the production floor to ensure proper safety stock levels are kept and to prevent item stock outs.
Analyze figures from records such as sales forecasts, orders, and production records, to obtain accurate inventory.
Ensure adequate stocks of authorized cross-docked materials are maintained and timely orders for replenishment materials are placed with designated vendors.
Monitor production records to ensure finish goods inventories are accurate
Make recommendations on where inventory levels can be modified to lower overall inventory carrying costs
Verifies clerical computations against physical count of stock and adjusts errors in computation or count, or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies
Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
Set up of new items in inventory system
Responsible for assisting with monthly inventory and reconciliation of paperwork/inventory with the accounting department (may necessitate working on off hours, Saturday or Sunday depending on month end date).
Works with suppliers and production employees to eliminate waste and damage to raw materials
Plans for elimination of obsolete inventory items
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
Perform duties as outlined in established Job Safety Analysis and National Quality Standards.
Perform other duties as designated by a supervisor or manager.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated ability and willingness to work safely, take initiative, multi-task, and work both independently and as a part of a team.
Must have excellent written, oral, and organizational skills and be very detail oriented. Should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have strong computer and analytical skills.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
5 years related experience in a lean manufacturing environment
Experience with OSHA standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit, stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day or longer in overtime situations as required.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to comprehend and follow work instructions. Must be able to understand and follow verbal instructions; communicate with coworkers and management clearly and respectfully; and work in an ever-changing, fast-paced team environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement. Work environment includes a clean and safe work area, exposure to high noise decibels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials, and limited chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment is required to be worn for any hazards and is supplied by the company.
