Comfort Dental Kids was established in 2000 with the opening of our first office in Bakersfield, CA, and has since grown to four dental offices in Bakersfield and one dental office in Delano, CA. The company also opened a corporate office in 2009 in order to manage the growing needs of the dental offices. The company is expected to continue its growth into the future, which will provide advancement opportunities for current employees.
We offer an array of services in order to meet the public’s wide range of dental needs. Our offices are primarily geared towards children and adolescents but we do accept adult patients at our specialty office, Smileland Dental. We accept DentiCal, Healthy Families and private insurances in order to provide services to all levels of income.

Back Office Dental Assistant
Dental Assistants play a key role in delivering exceptional dental services to patients in a safe and efficient manner. The DA gets the patient ready, prepares the operatory and equipment and assists the doctor during examinations and treatment in a manner which is compliant under OSHA and health regulations. The DA also acts as the liaison between the dentist, patient and front office to ensure that the patient receive the finest dental experience. The DA performs other back office duties permitted by law as outlined below.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist chair side and anticipate his or her needs
- Maintain proper patient records according to HIPAA guidelines
- Give pre and post operative instructions – within the limits designated by the dentist
- Provide oral hygiene instructions to the patient
- Comply with all OSHA and Dental Board regulations
- Stock supplies as needed
- Inform Supervisor when supplies are low
- Inform Supervisor when equipment is broken or malfunctioning
- Clean and sterilize facilities as needed
- Ability to build good rapport with patients, parents and staff
- Take quality x-rays
- Take impressions
- Coronal Polish
- Assist in the administration of nitrous oxide
- Escort patients to the front desk area for financial follow-up and re-scheduling
- Keep certificates and licenses up to date
Front Office Receptionist
Receptionists play a key role in ensuring that patients feel welcomed and comfortable since the receptionist is the first and last person the patient sees. They are responsible for ensuring that patients receive quality services in a timely manner. They greet patients, sign them in, prepare their chart for the back office, schedule future appointments, check patients out and handle incoming calls. The receptionist performs other front office duties as outlined below.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service by always acknowledging and greeting customers with a smile upon arrival and dismissal
- Respond to customers’ questions and concerns according to CDK policies and procedures
- Check patient eligibility
- Explain available treatment options
- Check patients in and out
- Answer multiline telephone calls
- Schedule appointments
- Confirm appointments
- Prepare appointment reminder cards
- Follow up on no show and cancellation appointments
- Assist customers with financial options
- Maintain daily, weekly and monthly schedule
- Track production and collection goals
- Pull , file and organize charts
- Update patient information
- Maintain patient records according to HIPAA guidelines
- Coordinate patient flow
- Organize and maintain the reward system for the children and exchange their earned points for toys accordingly
- Maintain a clean and friendly waiting and work area

Requirements:Back Office Dental Assistant
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification from an accredited dental assistant program preferred
- Must have a current X-Ray License or be willing to sign an agreement to obtain such license within six (6) months of employment
- Must have a current CPR certification or be willing to sign an agreement to obtain such certification within six (6) months of employment
- Must have a current Infection Control certification or be willing to sign an agreement to obtain such certification within six (6) months of employment
- Must have a current California Dental Practice Act certification or be willing to sign an agreement to obtain such certification within six (6) months of employment
- Must be vaccinated for Hepatitis B
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Highly motivated and energetic
- Must be able to work well under pressure
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
