The Emerald Cities Collaborative (ECC) is a new national non-profit (501[c]3) organization comprised of diverse groups labor, business, community, development, social justice, advocacy, technical, research, and government united around the goal of rapidly greening our nations cities and metropolitan regions in high road ways that promote shared prosperity, inclusion, and democracy within them. We want American cities to be among the greenest and most equitable in the world, leading the way to international climate mitigation while creating shared wealth and greater equity at home. ECC advances this goal by providing technical assistance, leadership training, policy, communication, and advocacy support to a series of planned, scaled, financially sustainable new energy development projects in cities, deliberately designed to generate quality local employment and wealth generation and fair access to both for community members. Our first such project is a comprehensive energy retrofit of our nations urban building stock. We will start by seeking as much coordination and learning as possible among our pilot cities. The Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) plays a critical role in directing Emerald Cities growth. Currently, ECC has a small national staff with a low volume of financial transactions. But as a start-up organization, the candidate must design and set up new financial and administrative policies, procedures, systems and unit staff. Moreover, the DFA will provide financial advice to the leadership team as ECC expands its operations to cities across the country. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Administration will be initially responsible for all finance, accounting, and reporting activities, as well as effectively managing personnel and the administrative infrastructure for the organization. The candidate will take on greater supervisory and management roles and responsibilities over time. Maintain internal control and safeguard for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets, and actual expenditures. Develop and/or improve controls as needed. Manage organizational cash flow Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Support ECCs finance and administration committees including prepare board packet, minutes, and conduct timely follow-up for committee meetings. Coordinate all audit activity. Work closely with and Department Directors to produce yearly organizational budget and monitor results against budget on a monthly basis. Continual improvement of budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets Administrative and Personnel Management Participates in organizational financial planning, evaluation and decisions.
