Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Responsible for the accurate and timely cleaning, inspection, assembly, enclosure and sterilization of surgical, diagnostic and procedural instrumentation and equipment to meet customer and patient forms manual cleaning accurately and efficiently to remove contaminating infectious microorganisms and other bodily fluid contaminates from reusable instrumentation and equipment. Performs manual cleaning and disinfection for heat and moisture sensitive devices to make safe for employee's handlings these items without personal protective pects instruments for cleanliness to prevent a nosocomial (healthcare facility acquired) infection. Inspects instruments for defects and proper functionality to minimize damage to bodily organs, vessels and/or tissue. Uses various electronic tools to inspect electro-surgical instruments and cables for defects that if were to go undetected could result in a patient injury or forms the re-assembly of instrument sets accurately and efficiently and in accordance to recipe card forms packaging tasks accurately and efficiently and in accordance to department policies and procedures and/or the manufacturer's instructions for rates processing equipment such as instrument washers, sterilizers, biological incubators and other equipment in accordance to department policies and procedures and/or the manufacturer's instructions for pletes sterilization, high-level disinfection and other legal documents accurately and in accordance to organization and department policies and forms patient medical equipment cleaning accurately and efficiently and in accordance to department policies and procedures to prevent patient injury, a death or a nosocomial forms surgical case cart assembly accurately and efficiently, collecting and organizing disposable and reusable items on a cart in accordance to assembly card ticipates with other staff and leaders in department and interdepartmental quality, process, customer service and other improvement forms all position-related tasks without deviation to department policies and proceduresInitiates personal education and development. Regularly participates in HealthEast and profession related education. Maintains knowledge of current technologies, practices and ntains confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure appropriate maintenance of all privacy related forms all other related duties as requested to meet departmental needs.
Qualifications Education: High School or General Equivalency (Education) Diploma or equivalent. Sterile Processing Technician Certification, Surgical Technician certification or equivalent experience. If not already certified as a Sterile Processing Technician, the new employee is required to prepare for and successfully pass a national Sterile Processing Technician certification examination after their first 12-months of employment.
Experience: The successful completion of a sterile processing or surgical technician program ora minimum of one years experience working in an acute care facility including knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
