Description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing the activities of the overall general accounting function. They will perform a variety of monthly accounting tasks to prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

Essential Functions

Oversee basic Accounting procedures (G/L, A/R, A/P, and Inventory).

• Manages Financial Statement preparation and month end closing.

• Create monthly work papers and prepare journal entries for reconciliations.

• Reconcile daily bank balance to GL for all bank accounts: Prepare and make daily deposits to the bank. Journalize bank transactions in Accounting Software.

• Review and analyze revenues and expense to ensure accurate and appropriate recording.

• File tax returns: Annual Business Property Taxes, Annual City Taxes, California Quarterly State Equalization Taxes, Canada Quarterly GST/HST, and others.

• Perform other work-related duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

• At least 5 years accounting experience is required.

• Thorough knowledge of general accounting including application of general accounting theory.

• Self-managed and ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

• Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with Sage Accounting software, is a must.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work and interact with department and client organizations.
