    Job Description

    Summary

    The Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist III will support AeroVironment Inc.'s U.S. A/R, Accounting, and Finance functions, and will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing for Government, commercial, and international customers.

    The role will require collaboration with AeroVironment Inc.'s Operations Finance and Contracts Depts to properly administer Government billing requirements, understand the billing mechanism for various different contract types (Firm Fixed Price, Cost Plus, and Time & Materials), and utilize customer billing portals for submission and payment tracking. Skills relating to account reconciliation and resolving discrepancies will be crucial, as will your ability to assist with government audits and final invoicing for U.S. Government contracts.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Prepare and submit government invoices (Cost Plus, Firm Fixed Price, and Time & Material) in a timely, efficient manner, utilizing project data from Oracle EBS/Fusion and submitted via customer portals (WAWF, Exostar, etc.), email, or other channels.

    • Apply billing requirements in accordance with the U.S. Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) as well as other contractual clauses.

    • Process final contract close out invoices and retention invoicing as needed.

    • Posts customer payment receipts by recording cash, checks, credit card transactions and adjustments. Also, processes credit memos, and billing adjustments as needed.

    • Maintains accounts receivable customer files and generates AR aging report for review and analysis.

    • Monitors customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities, and researches/resolves accounts receivable collection issues in a timely manner, and escalates issues when necessary.

    • Supports Corporate Accounting department with month-end closing activities.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related major preferred.

    • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Government Billing, General Accounting, or equivalent combination of experience and education.

    • General knowledge of accounting principles/GAAP.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including an intermediate/advanced level of proficiency in Excel.

    • Customer-service mindset and detail oriented with high level of written and verbal communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience)

    • Public company and/or Sarbanes-Oxley controlled environment experience preferred.

    • Large ERP system, especially Oracle EBS or Fusion, experience preferred.

    • Demonstrates high level of analytical problem-solving skills and strong work ethic.

    • Has substantial understanding of Government and commercial invoicing process and can apply knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.

    • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a wide range of duties.

    • Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives.

    • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to commute to the office location in Simi Valley, CA, as needed (hybrid).

    • Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)

    • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

    The salary range for this role is

    $25 - $38
