    Description of Work Unit

    CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University ( CSU ). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship.     Position Summary

    An Administrative and Logistics Professional position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands ( CEMML ). This appointment is located at the CEMML Joint Region Marianas ( JRM ) Area of Responsibility ( AOR ) Biosecurity Program office in Asan, Guam in support of the biosecurity program.

    This is an entry-level position working for the CEMML with Colorado State University ( CSU ). The Administrative and Logistics Professional provides support necessary to the biosecurity program for office efficiency, vehicle fleet management, record keeping, asset management, budget management, and information management.

    Guam has a substantial military presence consisting of three major military installations - Naval Base Guam, Andersen Air Force Base, and Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz. Each year major military training exercises are conducted within the JRM AOR where large quantities of military equipment and other materials are transported into Guam and the CNMI . Due to the sensitive ecological balance of island ecosystems, including the Mariana Islands, CEMML provides support to implement biosecurity within JRM AOR to prevent unintentional biological introductions.

    The Administrative and Logistics Professional is responsible for the oversight and management of

    • General office tasks (printing, copying, scanning, mailing, etc.).

    • Fleet management (ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques).

    • Asset management (track all supplies, equipment, and create depreciation schedule for aging items).

    • Assisting with office procurement needs.

    • Office maintenance (coordinating with property management for maintenance needs).

    • Scheduling/coordinating team meetings.

    • Recording meeting minutes.

    • Other tasks as assigned.

    The Administrative and Logistics Professional reports directly to and coordinates closely with the Biosecurity Program Manager.

    Work location is dependent on the needs of the partner/project/role. In some instances, positions may require staff to be fully in-person. In other instances, hybrid or remote arrangements may be possible.

    Required Job Qualifications

    • High School diploma or GED

    • Superb written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong time-management and multitasking abilities

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of Controlled Unclassified Information ( CUI ) information.

    • Must be able to deploy from Guam to locations in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands ( CNMI ), sometimes on short notice.

    • Must be capable of walking several consecutive miles carrying gear of up to 30 pounds and performing light manual labor in a hot tropical environment, often windy/rainy and on uneven terrain.

    • Must be able to work in a culturally diverse office and respect all Team members.

    • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license by the employment start date.

    • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    • Ability to effectively communicate via phone and email ensuring that correspondence is completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner.

    • Experience in developing internal processes and filing systems, office administration, recording minutes of meetings, and providing a balanced document that accurately reflects what has been discussed.

    • Experience in supply inventory and purchasing by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.

    • Experience in fleet management ensuring operations, conditions, compliance, and performance are optimal.

    • Experience and familiarity working with active-duty military units or in the military environment or other highly structured organization.

    • Experience working with different units within a university or other large organizational setting, such as Human Relations, Budget, and Information Technology.
