    As an Administrative Assistant 2 for the department of Ophthalmology, you will provide administrative support to the Retinal Disorders and Ophthalmic Genetics clinic in Westwood. We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual that will support our mission of providing excellent patient service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Answer phone calls and triage as necessary

    • Check patients in/out

    • Schedule patient appointments

    • Verify insurance and collect payments

    • Assist with authorizations and referrals requests

    • Screen patient messages

    Salary Range: $24.57-34.87 HourlyQualifications

    Required

    • Minimum 1-year experience working in a clinic.

    • Knowledge of major medical insurance plans and appointment scheduling.

    • Understanding of basic ophthalmic terminology.

    • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with physicians and staff in a high-volume setting.

    • Ability to screen telephone calls; check in patients collecting/verifying personal medical and insurance information.

    • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction and in timely manner

    • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly in person and on the telephone to communicate to physicians, patients, staff, and other individuals

    • Excellent verbal and written English language skills.

    • Ability to stay organized and adaptable in an expanding and ever-changing office.

    • Ability to multi-task in a busy and stressful environment while maintaining a calm, caring, efficient, and engaging demeanor.

    • Interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, co-workers, patients, and others.

    • Skill in recognizing and managing emergency situations.

    • Ability to handle heavy telephone traffic and assist callers with their needs or refer them appropriately.

    • Ability to set and follow through on priorities and complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in work-load, pressures, and deadlines.

    • Ability to report back to the immediate supervisor and doctor(s) on the progress of assigned special tasks.

    • Ability to schedule, check in/out, and encounter patients in the appointment registration system.

    • Skill in using a PC with associated programs including Word, Excel, and E-mail.

    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments in order to preform executive administrative functions such as maintaining physician's calendar and coordinating meetings.
