    POSITION DETAILS

    Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-five institutions within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education.     Reporting to the Student Life Director, the Administrative Coordinator will perform duties to assist in the processing and completion of the administrative operations of the office. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, ordering office supplies, greeting office visitors, and providing general support to the office of Student Life.

    In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

    -Support operations within the Division of Student Affairs by assisting with the execution of programming, and special events and/or projects

    -Collaborate with staff within the Office of Student Life to coordinate program development and logistics for campus events

    -Liaise with internal and external partners, and vendors to facilitate the execution of events sponsored by the Office of Student Life

    -Serve as liaison to other administrative and academic offices, student clubs, the Student Government Association and other internal and external organizations.

    -Provide information and respond to all inquiries by staff, faculty and students and ensure timely and accurate communication between members of the campus community and the Office of Student Life

    -Assist with the creation of correspondence, and development of marketing and promotional materials

    -Supervise and coordinate the duties of clerical and part-time staff such as office assistants and student aids.

    -Assist in monitoring the office budget and expenses and create and/or maintain records related to purchase orders or check requests

    -Prepare reports, documents and presentations as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    -Understanding of project coordination, management and data analysis

    -Proficiency with MS Office application suite (word processing, spreadsheet/database, presentation software)

    -Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

    -Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor, confidentiality, and to effectively complete multiple tasks/projects with competing priority levels and deadlines required

    Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.

    • Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.

    • Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

    • Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.

    • Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.

    • Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.

    • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.

    • May supervise office staff and student workers.

    • Performs related duties as assigned.

    $46,103 - $54,268
