    Responsibilities

    The supervisor is responsible for overall management of the Anesthesia Tech Group. Responsible for patient care standards, staff coverage models, staff development and long-range planning. Serves as a liaison to anesthesia staff, surgical staff, residents, nurse managers, and other departments on behalf of the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine. Responsible for personnel, operational, financial and institutional management within the anesthesia tech area:

    • Personnel management: interviewing and hiring, scheduling, training, corrective action/coaching, performance reviews, implementing and interpreting clinic and department policies and procedures, maintaining an effective working relationship with clinic and hospital personnel, and the confidentiality of employee and patient information.

    • Operational management: workflow analysis, expense management, scheduling, payroll, resource allocation.

    • Financial management: purchasing supplies, communicating with vendors and expense management.

    • Institution management: participation in committees and work groups, networking with colleagues to improve patient care and service.

    Also responsible for projects and assignments as assigned by the Operations Manager or Administrator.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Associate degree or ASA certification, Bachelor's degree preferred.

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of (5) years peri-operative experience. (2) years management experience.

    Knowledge of reprocessing principles, quality assurance, inventory control, and continuous performance improvement concepts is preferred.

    COMPETENCY: Demonstrates knowledge of preparation of anesthesia machines. Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in preparation of invasive lines. Attends two clinical in-services per year. Attends four management classes per year. Annual budget preparation for Department of Anesthesia.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: Detailed knowledge of the specialty supervised; ability to function at clinical level.

    ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Ability to work well with and supervise people; pleasant behavior; stands/walks on job.

    American Heart Association BLS certified

    $55,681 - $83,532 / year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.; Compensation range is $26.77 -$40.16 / hour
