Assistant Controller

Description

Robert Half is supporting the recruiting efforts of a company in the retail industry to find an Assistant Controller. This is a full time, permanent position in Wheat Ridge. It is hybrid (3 in office/2 from home), and is paying $110-120k + bonus. Additional information and job requirements are below. Responsibilities

• Cultivate robust professional relationships with colleagues, fostering open communication.

• Proactively assist department and sales channel leaders in managing their expenses, forecasts/budgets, and strategic decision-making.

• Handle various daily accounting and finance tasks in the context of a growing organization.

• Oversee the completion, review, consolidation, and analysis of the business's financial outcomes.

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP in financial statements and accounting procedures, including the establishment and maintenance of internal controls, SOPs, and accounting policies.

• Lead initiatives to enhance accounting and finance processes, to provide more timely, relevant, and accessible financial insights.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive analyses of sales, product costs, pricing, volume, mix, and profitability.

• Coordinate and facilitate a successful external audit.

• Prepare and oversee the fulfillment of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting obligations.

• Manage departmental and channel budgeting processes, including monthly reviews.

• Supervise the cash conversion cycle procedures.

• Assist in analyzing and transitioning to new software necessary to support business operations.

• Oversee the organization's sales/use, property, and income tax compliance requirements.

• Cultivate new and nurture existing credit and financing relationships to potentially enhance access to capital in the future.

• Actively participate in and lead cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Required

• Bachelors in accounting or finance

• CPA required

• 4-10 years experience in accounting

• Advanced Excel (there is an assessment as part of the interview process) -- vlookups, xlookups, pivot tables, required. Macros would be great

• Hungry, go getter

Nice to have

• Retail or distribution experience

• Some exposure to financial tasks like the forecasting would be great.

• Experience calculating and paying sales tax in multiple states
