The University of Virginia's Printing and Copying Services has an opportunity for an Assistant Copy Division Manager who will manage the copy division's daily operations and oversee division activities operating multiple, full-service copy centers equipped with state-of-the-art reproduction and finishing equipment. The incumbent will oversee a high volume of a variety of digital document network services, an extensive fee-based laser printing system, microfilm services, and all related binding, finishing and delivery services. The Assistant Manager provides direct supervision of copy production and support staff.
Administer and coordinate the division's resources on a daily basis, with full responsibility and accountability for efficient, cost-effective operation to best meet the stated goals and objectives. Provide in-depth input and recommendations for goals and objectives, as needed, including planning, trends analysis, and long-term direction.
Directly supervise staff, including work assignments, training, departmental policy interpretation and performance evaluation. Oversee employee hiring, training, and evaluation.
Provide training and technical support to University faculty and staff on use of networked devices.
Interact with vendors frequently on a range of departmental requirements, ranging from service to supply orders.
Ensure the division is equipped and staffed to provide services to best meet the needs of the University.
Oversee the operation and maintenance of a network-based laser printing system. Coordinate with Business Operations office on Cavalier Advantage card.
Audit system for accuracy and proper function and coordinate patron billing and accounting functions with the accounting staff.
Maintain equipment. Continually review all production, satellite copier, and laser printing equipment performance and procure replacements, upgrades, and new installations. Ensure production equipment is used properly and performs within expected guidelines.
Communicate regularly with Copy Division Manager concerning daily activities and division status. May act on behalf of Copy Division Manager, as needed.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree. Extensive experience, twelve years or more, in printing and copying services may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience managing large-scale copying operations.
Licensure: Valid Driver's license.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $42,000 - $52,000 Annually
For this position, the selected candidate will need to complete the following background checks: criminal, sexual offender, degree validation and DMV.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
