    The baler operator is responsible for operating and managing the daily operation of the baler and the wire tie machine. Load material into the baler and monitor bale weights. Monitor quality of material so they meet industry standards. Perform all preventive maintenance and inspections prior to start of shift. Follow all WestRock safety guidelines and housekeeping responsibilities.

    Shift: 2nd

    Hours: 2:30pm - 11pm

    Pay Rate: $18 - $21.30/hour

    How you will impact WestRock

    • Perform all preventive maintenance tasks

    • Keep maintenance aware of all issues and changes with the equipment

    • Perform housekeeping duties

    • Fill out all appropriate paperwork

    • Understand pressure and material requirements

    • Avoid material contamination

    • Maintain bale integrity and weight requirements.

    • Authorized employee - Initiate LOTO and/or confined space entry

    • Follow all safety procedures and be an active member in the health and safety programs of WestRock

    • 3 points of contact in getting in and out of equipment

    • Performs other job duties as needed.

    What you need to succeed

    • Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.

    • Must have ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos.

    • Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

    • Must have ability to perform intermediate arithmetic dealing with decimals, fractions, ratios, etc.

    • Must pass basic reading test.

    • Must have basic computer skills (email, word processing, etc.).

    • Must be able to operate basic office equipment (fax machine, copy machine, etc.).

    • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

    • Must be cross trained in Bobcat and Frontend Loader Operations

    • Must be able to maintain good attendance.

    • Must have ability to answer the telephone and provide information/assistance to customers.

    • Must have knowledge of current office procedures and methods including, but not limited to, telephone communication, office systems and record keeping.

    • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
