  • We are seeking a Client Service Representative, CSR, to join our busy Emergency Department. Two years experience in assisting customers in a fast-paced emergency setting is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

    As a member of VCA Alameda East CSR Team, you will assist the Doctor and technician team in providing the maximum level of care 24/7 to both incoming critical and non-critical emergencies. We work on a wide variety of cases on canine and feline patients (exotics too!) to receive top notch intensive care using advanced techniques and specialized equipment.

    Client Services Representative will utilize an array of advanced skills including, but not limited to:

    • Customer service functions, including: greeting visitors, answering telephones, and guiding clients and their pets to exam rooms

    • Liaison between client and medical team

    • Scheduling and confirming appointments

    • Placing outbound calls for follow-ups and reaching out to prospective clients

    • Presenting and explaining fees, including processing payments

    • Recommending, selecting, and obtaining products and services, including prescriptions

    • Screening emergency patients and incoming specialty patients

    • Managing medical records, charts, reports and correspondence

    • Effective verbal, listening, and communication skills

    • Ability to work collaboratively with team members of all hospital services

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • At least two years of proven past experience helping customers

    • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

    • Excellent listening and communication skills

    • Compassion for pets and people-as well as awareness and understanding of others' reactions

    • Proven decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action

    • The ability to integrate new information into problem-solving

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

    • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

    • The ability to stand at the front desk for long periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste

    The hourly rate for this position is $18.29 - $20 per hour and is negotiable based on a candidate's experience, credentials, skillset, education, schedule and other factors.
