    The Communications Operator assist patients and staff with obtaining meal service selection requests via telephone and enters orders in computer system.

    What You'll Do:

    • Assists patients with menu selections in compliance with their therapeutic diet using the room service computer system

    • Utilize and process computer programs for the diet order change report, tube feeding and baby formula reports, nourishment lists and other forms needed for the room service-patient tray service assembly area.

    • Prints, gather and labels tube feedings for patient areas

    • Mix and prepare baby formulas per recipe provided by dietitian, nurse/physician

    • Responds to patients, family members and staff with courtesy and uses appropriate phone etiquette.

    • Abides by HIPPA guidelines

    • Applies room service training skills to monitor menu accuracy of computer-select or hand selected meals, including any dietary restriction and allowances, under the guidance of room service cell center-lead employee, management team or dietitian.

    • Enters menu selections data into the room service computer system for food count and tray tickets function

    • Using the room service system, reviews to determine which patients have not placed an order for each meal period and attempts to reach patient via phone to obtain meal order. If patient does not answer, meal order is automatically placed by communications operator unless instructed otherwise by dietitian, nursing staff or physician.

    • Accepts phone messages, responds with courtesy and records data received and directs information to the appropriate person.

    • Keeps work area clean and sanitized

    • Provides assistance with nourishments and tray assembly and delivery as needed.

    • Responds and cooperates with changes in workload

    • Assists in any simple aspect of patient meal tray service as need by the room service, call center lead, dietitian or any part of the management team.

    • Reports to the Director of Food and Nutrition and the Clinical Nutrition Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • 16 years or older.

    • H.S. diploma preferred.

    • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.

    • Computer training, telephone etiquette.
