JIB Accountant

Description

Our client, a leading company in the energy sector, is seeking a dedicated and skilled JIB Accountant to join their team in downtown Houston. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth technical knowledge in handling JIB (Joint Interest Billing) related to petroleum accounting and display proficiency in Excel applications.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and process Joint Interest Billings (JIB) to partners.

• Review and reconcile JIB invoice accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

• Utilize advanced Excel skills to create and maintain spreadsheets, reports, charts, and graphs.

• Handle financial queries relating to JIB and provide comprehensive financial information.

• Collaborate with other accounting sectors in developing and improving accounting systems and processes.

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting and industry regulations.

• Regularly communicate with clients on billings and other related matters.

• Take charge in processing and data entry of financial and non-financial transactions into the company's accounting system.

• Uphold the integrity of accounting operations by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.

• 2+ years of accounting experience, specifically in JIB, is required.

• Proficient in computer applications particularly with MS Office Suite, with strong emphasis on Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, macros).

• Knowledge in petroleum accounting systems such as Quorum, Enertia, or Bolo will be considered an asset.

• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting stringent deadlines.
