    Summary

    Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Inc. (CED), one of the largest and fastest growing wholesale electrical distribution companies in the country, has an opening in our Irving, Texas, office for a Legal Secretary. The Legal Secretary will report to the Deputy General Counsel and will provide administrative and project-specific support to team members within all departments that report to CED's General Counsel: Legal, Personnel Assessment, Real Estate, Loss Control, and Fleet.

    Reports to: Deputy General Counsel

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must exhibit good judgment and discretion, as well as exemplary verbal and written language skills.

    • Must be competent with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.

    • Must have one or more years prior work as a legal secretary, preferably with experience in corporate formation, employment law matters, subpoena response, and general legal office administrative duties.

    • Must be service oriented. All Legal Department staff support Field management and, consequently, must demonstrate servant leadership to be successful within CED's organizational structure.

    • Successful candidate must have good references, pass pre-employment drug test, successfully complete a background check, as well as be willing to participate in pre-employment assessments.

    • Associate's Degree or higher with a strong academic record

    • Notary Public (or willing and eligible to become one)

    Essential Job Functions

    In conjunction with the Legal Department's Legal Assistant, cover all administrative duties including, but not limited to the following:

    • Serve as front-line matter intake professional, with the mandate to either handle matters quickly or route them to the appropriate person for prompt handling;

    • Collect and deliver candidate assessment data to hiring managers in a timely manner;

    • Assist the Corporate Secretary in the preparation, filing and maintenance of annual minutes and board resolutions;

    • Prepare, file and maintain fictitious business name registrations throughout the US;

    • Route service of process to the appropriate business unit;

    • Assist with document productions;

    • Answer Legal Department phone calls live, as opposed to via voicemail, whenever possible;

    • Organize and maintain legal files;

    • Handle mailing and overnight deliveries;

    • Order and maintain Legal Department supplies;

    • Process invoices;

    • Assist with travel arrangements, expense report filing, and check requests; and

    • Handle copying, scanning, and faxing of documents.

    • Assist other departments that report to the company's General Counsel such as Real Estate, Loss Control, Personnel Assessment, and Fleet as needed.

    • Handle all other duties as assigned.
