Medical Biller/Collections Specialist

Description

We are seeking a Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to join our team in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of billing inpatient and outpatient claims, facilitating the claims process, responding to account inquiries, and working closely with team members on claim appeals, denials, resolution, and education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit clean claims to third-party payers either electronically or by paper

• Adhere to billing guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations

• Address account inquiries from patients, payers, providers, and/or other staff as requested

• Identify and resolve patient/insurance billing issues

• Collaborate with team members on claim appeals, denials, resolution, and education

• Monitor all steps in the billing processes to ensure maximum reimbursement from patients, government, and commercial payers

• Stay updated on Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial payer rules and regulations applicable to billing

• Use online healthcare databases and other resources for verification and claim status

• Deliver high-quality service to internal and external customers

• Assist other members of the team with projects as needed

• Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

Requirements

• Must have proven experience as a Medical Biller/Collections Specialist.

• Proficiency in medical and dental billing procedures is essential.

• Familiarity with medical coding and relevant software is required.

• Strong knowledge of billing insurance procedures, including both private and public insurers.

• Understanding of medical terminologies and the ability to decipher and comprehend medical records and hospital form notations.

• High degree of attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Medical Billing or related field is a plus.
