Summary:

The Medicare Insurance Clerk works directly with physicians to ensure all patients/clients receive the proper medical equipment prescribed. He/she also works directly with the patient/client and their insurance company to ensure payment of the equipment and supplies they receive from Down East Medical.

Responsibilities:

Physicians, patients, and customers are served by providing quality durable medical equipment and supplies in a timely manner. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of Down East Medial Supply and Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Graduate

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

• One (1) year experience in the medical field filing insurance.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

• None required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

• Verbal and writing skills are necessary for effective communication with referral services, insurance companies and customers. Knowledge of durable medical equipment and medical terminology.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Stressful working conditions, irregular hours, constant interruptions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

Ability to lift load of up to 50 lbs.
