    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    This role will play a fundamental role between departments assuring clear communication between the production floors and shipping. To assure a proactive flow in Shipping, this role will focus on upcoming orders identifying possible bottlenecks and determining problem solving techniques. In addition, this role will support day to day activities releasing orders to the pickers in the finished goods warehouse using our ERP system, ordering goods from our offsite warehouse, communicating with customer service and invoicing orders shipping through parcel. Prior to learning these key skill sets the candidate will become acquainted with the product and our hazardous products by training in the small package area.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Utilize Prevail to review material availability, launch orders into the shipping process and monitor progress throughout the day.

    • Coordinate with shipping supervision to monitor status of shipments and available shipping capacity. Notify supervisor of inventory discrepancies and apparent bottlenecks in the process.

    • Coordinate with planning to identify and resolve shortages and to prioritize orders based on customer feedback, production status, etc.

    • Coordinate with customer service representatives to provide shipment status to customers and assign priorities.

    • Coordinate communication with remote Kidde-Fenwal warehouse sites and branch plants to transfer material, monitoring performance and processing transactions as required.

    • Work from route sheets, shipping pick lists, verbal, and written instructions from supervisor.

    • Suggest improvements to the shipping operating system and/or process.

    • Comply and know hazardous materials regulations (packing and shipping).

    • Maintain necessary records.

    • Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe and orderly conditions.

    • Follow established company rules and regulations.

    • Maintain quality standards.

    • Perform other related duties as required or as directed.

    REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

    • Ability to organize daily activities and to make quick decisions to support a fast-paced process-oriented operation.

    • Experience in a shipping environment.

    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

    • Ability to use multiple and varied software applications including e-mail, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft Enterprise One, and specialized shipping applications.

    • Ability to work alone with minimal daily instructions and supervision.

    • Good analytical and PC skills.

    • Work with team to complete month-end shipping activities.

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Basic mathematical skills.
