    Summary

    The primary purpose of the PBS Supervisor position is to provide supervision and support of the daily operations for the practice plan (Physician Referral Services) PRS Billing and Collections team. The PBS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the processing and billing of professional claims. Plans and coordinates billing and collections strategies with Manager and the team in order to manage and reduce AR greater than 90 days and monthly AR days, reduce controllable write-offs and adjustments and ensure consistent/improved cash collections for the institution from all payers. In addition, the Supervisor will also assist with oversight of performance and processes related to any outside agencies contracted to assist with insurance recovery efforts for PRS invoices/claims.

    Key Functions

    1. Supervise and coordinate physician commercial and governmental billing functions associated with Physicians Referral Service (PRS).

    2. Supervise and coordinate physician governmental follow up activities.

    3. Responsible for overseeing that governmental Single Case Agreements are billed appropriately and monitored for correct reimbursement.

    4. Oversee daily processes associated with patient accounting system and the electronic billing software.

    5. Responsible for monitoring billing and collections staff productivity to assure departmental, unit and individual goals are met consistently.

    6. Ensure quality standards are maintained and that QA is monitored to ensure compliance with standard AR practices and billing regulations.

    7. Ensure that proper policies and procedures are followed.

    8. Provide training and counseling as required.

    9. Prepare and provide management reports to Manager and Director, Revenue Billing to track key financial indicators.

    10. Responsible for working with the Manager to ensure all electronic billing edits are updated and revised as needed.

    11. Must maintain current knowledge related to commercial & governmental billing regulations, as well as updates related to electronic health record system functionality.

    12. Responsible for articulating third party billing requirements and updates to assigned staff.

    13. Other duties as assigned.

    Required Education:

    Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.

    Preferred Education:

    Bachelor's degree.

    Required Experience:

    Six years of accounting or business office experience to include two years of supervisory experience. Two years of hospital or physician business experience with preferred degree. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

    Preferred Experience/Skills:

    Three + years leadership experience managing follow up and billing teams, Medicare, Medicaid collections and billing experience, strong revenue cycle management (high volume), recent supervisor/manager experience, Epic, reporting, presentation skills, personable personality is needed.

    Other Requirements:

    Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
