Shipping Clerk

Basic Purpose and Objective:

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, uses the JD Edwards system to input receivers, loads and unloads trucks, retrieves and stores materials in the warehouse, counts and boxes parts, and makes necessary inventory transactions.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

• Uses computer to process receiving reports, shippers, FedEx, customs paperwork, UPS and pick lists.

• Reports shortages and damaged materials.

• Notifies supervisor or calls customer service when routing and carrier when not specified by customer.

• Arranges for pick-up carrier, when directed to do so by supervisor.

• Completes bills of lading, and shippers, following standard procedures.

• Loads and unloads trucks.

• Uses hand trucks and power trucks to move materials.

• Works from pick slips, work orders and stock requisitions in order to disseminate parts to proper area or make ready for shipment.

• Do cycle counts and research discrepancies, when instructed to do so by supervisor.

• Write up and distribute all forms for incoming materials.

• Does Shipping Handler assignments plus Clerk assignments.

• Report production for Metals when instructed to do so by supervisor.

• Advise supervisor when supplies and packaging materials are getting low.

• Maintains cleanliness of department and immediate outside area.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience

Experience Required:

• Ability to read and write to follow quality and related instructions.

• Add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Performs the four operations with like common decimals and fractions.

• Basic computer skills

• Have or be able to obtain a Hilo license within the probationary period.
