Responsibilities

Manage the daily operations of the central sterile supply unit.

• Develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.

• Collect and report on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement.

• Work collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.

• Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.

• May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.

• Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system.

• Monitor quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities.

• Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Required Credential(s):

One or more of the following

• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International

• Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) obtained within 12 Months (1year) of hire date or job transfer date.

• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Boardfor Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date orjob transfer date

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

• 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

SPD certification required, 2 yrs of leadership experience required, strong communication skills.
