    As an Surgery Scheduler, you will be responsible for all care coordination for assigned surgery service line by scheduling patient appointments, encountering, scheduling therapeutic and ancillary testing and procedures as needed as well as scheduling surgery in the main OR and/or ASCs: obtaining insurance authorizations, answer, screen and respond to incoming calls, prepare all documentation, charts, encountering, and other information needed for physician clinics, schedule patient needed appointments, x-rays, surgery, and tests. Prepare all necessary documents and forward to appropriate departments including insurance authorizations, charge documents and reconciliations and disability and worker's compensation forms. Explain charges to patients and assist patients with billing questions, communicated directly with department billing and Physician Support Services. Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, nursing units and other UCLA departments. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports, as needed. Responsibilities also include providing support in appointment scheduling, pre-registration, patient reception, cash collection and other related duties. Other duties/tasks, as assigned.

    Salary Range: $28.23 - 33.86Qualifications

    • Demonstrated basic knowledge of third-party insurances, government programs and other insurance agencies for purposes of assigning financial class codes and obtaining any necessary authorizations.

    • Ability to research medical diagnosis and procedure codes in CPT Code book and ICD-9_CM code book.

    • Demonstrated computer skills including word-processing, use of spreadsheets and data entry.

    • Ability to understand and correctly use technical terminology, correctly identify, and extract data from hospital records, enter data on flow sheets or in computer and maintain study records.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with medical, nursing, and administrative personnel, both verbally and via written reports and memos.

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook

    • Skill and experience in composing clear and understandable written memos and reports using correct grammar.

    • Superior typing skills to prepare correspondence, reports and other written materials with speed and accuracy.

    • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to department clinics, as assigned.
