    JOB SUMMARY

    The purpose of this position is to manage energy and sustainability data, and support implementation of sustainability initiatives on a US basis for a major US financial institution.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Account-specific focus workstreams

    • DATA MANAGEMENT

    • Energy/Water/Waste Use validation, Tracking and Reporting

    • Assist with validation, tracking and reporting of site energy usage

    • Assist with review of annual utility budgeting

    • Collect and analyze monthly electricity, water/sewer, and natural gas/oil usage data with commentary on actual usage versus expected usage, coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to explain meaningful variances.

    • Become a power user of Resource Advisor data system

    • Review utility bills (i.e., electricity, natural gas, oil and municipal water & sewer) for accuracy and verify that they comply with the associated rates and tariffs.

    Develop sustainability strategy for clients' real estate portfolios

    Manages real estate sustainability-related projects and programs for a large corporate client with a portfolio of buildings.

    Key focus areas may include the following:

    Ensures that global sustainability standards are applied throughout the managed properties.

    Manage sustainability-related employee engagement

    Communicate past, present, and future Sustainability plans and performance through formal presentations to account team.

    Develops, updates, communicates, and implements sustainability standards, water efficiency standards, and best in class waste and recycling processes.

    Develops and presents monthly sustainability status and variance reports. Monitors and reports on energy use, water use, waste diversion rates and spending trends as requested.

    Collaborates with the global platform on the implementation and management of sustainability projects in a timely and accurate fashion.

    Maintain a register of client sustainability targets and commitments along with compliance standards required by the client, driven by legislative and regulatory bodies.

    Oversee and support the preparation of sustainability improvement business cases and proposals to an agreed standard with appropriate sign off providing the client with opportunities to improve the sustainability performance of the operations.

    Providing insight and updates to specific areas of risk and opportunity.

    Manage and maintain relationships with colleagues from CBRE's matrix of sustainability specialists identifying opportunities to leverage capabilities and increase the value generated for the client.

    Ability to analyze corporate portfolio performance by benchmarking and derive measurements of performance reflecting all aspects of sustainability

    Experience of working with GHG disclosure programs such as SECR, CDP, and GRI

    Experience or understanding of Science Based Targets

    A competent communicator with the ability to engage on often challenging subjects to develop competencies, and generate shared purpose

    Technical competent in understanding complex problems, think strategically and identify sustainable solutions

    Develops and presents ad-hoc reports as needed based on client feedback.

    Manages internal and external relationships in support of program. May contract and manage vendors

    Other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    As required, works with team members to further develop Sustainability competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. This position may have direct supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university in a subject such environmental science, energy management, climate change, sustainability, economics or equivalent through experience

    Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training.

    CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

    Sustainability Accreditation (e.g., LEED, or WELL) a plus.

    Training and accreditation may be part of development and performance management requirements.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills.

    Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers.

    Ability to effectively present information.

    Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues

    FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

    Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

    Carbon footprint reporting experience or training preferred. Training and accreditation part of development and performance management requirements

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

    Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines.

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

    CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Sustainability Management 3 position is $ 120,000 annually [or $57.69 per hour] and the maximum salary for the Sustainability Management 3 position is $135,000 annually [or $64.90 per hour]. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
