Make a Difference in Your Community: Program Eligibility Specialist (Bilingual Spanish Required)

A local non-profit in San Luis Obispo, is seeking a Program Eligibility Specialist for a full-time, contract-to-hire opportunity. In this role, you'll play a critical role in determining eligibility for our community programs, directly impacting the lives of local residents.

What you'll do:

• Be the first point of contact for program applicants, conducting interviews (phone and in-person) in both English and Spanish to assess eligibility.

• Clearly explain program requirements and guide applicants through the documentation process.

• Conduct initial and ongoing eligibility reviews, ensuring all paperwork is complete and accurate.

• Process verification requests and prepare program contracts and notices.

• Maintain detailed case files electronically and physically.

• Communicate effectively with staff, program participants, and external partners regarding eligibility changes and program updates.

• Attend meetings to stay informed of program guidelines and best practices.

• Analyze data and perform calculations related to eligibility determination.

• Enter accurate information into our program software.

You're a great fit if you have:

• Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal)

• At least one year of experience in a similar role (or relevant experience and education)

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Commitment to providing excellent customer service

This is a bilingual position requiring fluency in both English and Spanish.

Requirements - At least 1 year of Administrative Assistant experience preferred

• Solid understanding of Eligibility Verification

• Administrative Assistance experience

• Spanish Language experience highly desired

• Recruiting Activities experience

• Foundational knowledge in Program Management

• Strong communication and social skills

• Ability to use the internet for research

  • Ideal candidate must have adept computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, as well as databases and customer database systems
