  • Description Job Purpose

    The Payroll Specialist performs standard tasks to establish and maintain payroll records within the timekeeping system. This role responds to more challenging payroll system issues, maintains system upkeep, and identifies root causes for system issues. The Payroll Specialist identifies and executes process improvements as business needs evolve. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for leveraging subject matter knowledge to ensure integration and consistency of practices across the operation.

    Key Tasks

    • Processes multi-state U.S. payroll accurately, timely, and efficiently in compliance with all federal, state/provincial, local, and regulatory requirements.

    • Inputs data to computerized payroll systems to prepare weekly and biweekly payroll, including updating and adjusting employee master file records upon notice of changes.

    • Evaluates, corrects errors, and prepares timekeeping files for weekly and bi-weekly payrolls.

    • Responsible for managing a work queue ensuring that work is managed within SLA's.

    • Manages and responds to moderately complex, Tier 2 employee escalations.

    • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and reporting necessary repairs to management to ensure optimal functionally.

    • Creating and maintaining union and non-union timekeeping policies within timekeeping system.

    • Follows and maintains internal control policies, procedures, and compliance with respect to the payroll process.
